CARDENASÂ RESEARCH TRAINING GROUP AT SUNY-FREDONIA
Our Research Group focuses on undergraduate training and skill development while pursuing impactful research
TRAINING
In
CRYSTALLOGRAPHY
Students are trained to determine the solid state structure of their molecules using single crystal X-ray diffractometer. They have hands-on experiences from preparing the sample to depositing the crystallographic information file (cif) to a database.
MOLECULE DESIGN
Students are trained to design a molecule based on a specific desired outcomes such as activation, catalysis or change in optical properties. Students are trained to synthesize their target molecule while enhancing their skills in handling chemicals, optimizing synthesis yield and purity of the product.
COMMUNICATION
Students are encouraged to share their passion for discovery and chemistry. Students are given opportunity to present in both local, national and international conferences which enhances their communication skills and expand their network.
